Thunderbolt display will not wake up and ports are dead

Hi,

For some time now I have a Thunderbolt display 27" connected to my iMac 27". Worked fine all the time, untill one day when my iMac was in a sleep mode, I waked it up. The display did not andcthe screen remained black. Only turning everything down to start up again the display 'works'.....,but the ports are dead.

I followed some advice, did resets and checked for firmware updates...but so far nothing helped.

Did somebody experienced the same?

What is the solution?

Hm....,that is what I didn't do so far. I was thinking about it though.

I'll get me a new cable to test it and I'll let you know.

I have the same issue... it started like 3-4 weeks ago.

It happens randomly when the screensaver comes on and display goes to sleep after. The computer has been set to never sleep, just the display only.

I will loose all my USB ports and the display will not come back on. I have this happened with the display attached to a mac mini and an iMac

Hi again,

Because the cable is nowhere to buy (in the Netherlands) I took the display to a repair centre.

After a check there it became clear that the 'all in one' cable causes the troubles, so it have to be replaced for a new one. The cable is purchased at Apple and in a few days time this problem has to be solved!

Well back again and with good news.

I just collected my display from an Apple repaircentre and it works good again.

It wakes up again and all ports are working.

So afterall the allinone cable caused all misery.

Good for you all to know.

Quit an expensive repair though.......
